Workshops
GINGER
COX holds a BFA in Dance
from Temple University. She is the Artistic Director of LiNK the movement,
teaches at Broadway Dance Center and is on the faculty at the Joffrey
Contemporary Jazz Department. She's taught at The University of the Arts, the
Alvin Ailey Arts/Education Program, in Luxembourg, Paris, Switzerland, Germany,
Mexico, Japan, and continues to teach at teacher’s workshops and master
classes. Her choreography in LiNK has been quoted as absorbing, and
inventive, with Amusing Creativity. She’s choreographed for NIKE, the NJ Nets
Dancers, recording Artist Lijie, the Queens Fringe Festival, the MishMash,
Collaborative Movement Company, and the Élan Awards, honoring Mr. Lar
Lubavich. LiNK has performed in the NuDance Festival, 60X60-a
collaboration with musicians, SoNo Arts Festival, Built On Stilts, DRA Remember
Projects, the Rebound Dance Festival, International Dance Festival, WAXworks,
the Choreographers Canvas, the Artist/Choreographer's Canvas, Spoke the Hub,
Jennifer Muller’s HATCH, and the Monterey Dance Festival to name a few. Ginger
was featured in Australia’s Dance Train Magazine and has contributed articles
in Dance Teacher Magazine, Dance Spirit and French jazz dance magazine
-JazzPulsions. Ginger has performed on Saturday Night Live, with Molly
Shannon,Jimmy Falon, Lou Bega, and in several Industrials. While living in
Japan, Ginger performed in and choreographed several Japanese productions.
CHARLOTTE D’AMBOISE has starred in
numerous Broadway shows and is considered true Triple Threat. She has worked
with legendary choreographers Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Peter
Martins, Rob Marshall, Ann Reinking, Debbie Allen, Gillian Lynn, Rob Ashford
and George Balanchine. Charlotte was
most recently seen playing the role of
CASSIE in the Broadway revival A Chorus Line for which she received her second
Tony Nomination. She is featured in the acclaimed documentary Every Little
Step. Other Broadway shows include Roxie in Chicago, Lola in Damn Yankees,
Charity in Sweet Charity and Jerome Robbins Broadway. She starred in Contact, Company, Song &
Dance, and Cats. She has appeared in numerous OFF Broadway and regional
productions, including Parade and has
appeared in numerous films and Television. She has performed several times at the
Kennedy Center Honors for acclaimed recipients Chita Rivera, Mary Martin, and
Jacques d’Amboise. Ms d’Amboise started
her teacher training with the National Dance Institute in NYC, has taught
nationally in Ballet, Jazz, Modern and her specialty Broadway Dance. She has been the residence guest artist
Western Carolina University, is the co-artist director for the Triple Arts
Broadway Series and has been a teacher/choreographer for Fine Line Dance,
Marth’a Vinyard Dance Camp, Broadway Comes To Denver and The Carolina Arts
Festival. She choreographed and directed A Chorus Line at Western
University. Charlotte is in constant
demand for master classes and workshops all over the country.
CALEN KURKA trained in
Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Modern, and Chinese Dance. As an instructor
Calen has taught across Canada, the U.S., Japan, and in Ireland at Dublin's Dance Jam '07. He has
taught for Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America and is on the
faculty at Broadway Dance Center. His
choreography has been recognized as outstanding at many competitions throughout
the U.S. and Canada, and has been the recipient of many awards. In addition to
teaching in and around New York he's also assistant to choreographer, director,
instructor, Michele Assaf. Calen's
performing credits include the first national tour of Jeff Amsden's "A Few
Good Men Dancin'" and performing with recording artist Carmella. Calen's stage credits include year with Tokyo
Disney as a Main Stage performer, and leading roles as Capt. Von Trapp in
"The Sound of Music" and Seymour in "Little Shop of
Horrors" In addition he can be seen
in "The Live! at Broadway Dance Center" video series "Turns and
Turn Combos," dancing with choreographer Danny Herman, and "Floor
Work with Calen Kurka and Chris Hale": A new addition to the "Live at
BDC" collection. As founder and
Artistic Director of :pushing progress a company, Calen hopes to continue his
journey as an artist, instructor and choreographer. He wishes to inspire, and
be continually inspired by those who so honestly give of their talent and
themselves. He continues, with his company, to create work pushing new
movement, strong technique, honesty, emotional commitment, and growth. It is an
evolutionary journey with no boundaries, no limits, no ends.
MANWE started his dance career at an early age. Coming from a family of
artists, Manwe learned from some of the best teachers in the country. After
graduating from the School of the Arts in San Francisco, Manwe returned to New
York to continue studying his craft. He attended the Alvin Ailey School where
he trained for three years in Horton, Graham, Ballet and Jazz. Since performing
in his first music video at the age of fifteen, Manwe has worked with artists
such as: Michael Jackson, Liza Minelli, Destiny’s Child, Debelah Morgan, and
Amerie to name a few.
